Fire extinguishers are an essential tool for fire safety, but only when used correctly and responsibly. However, it's crucial to remember that they are not a substitute for a safe evacuation plan and calling 9-1-1 immediately in case of a fire.

Multipurpose extinguishers (ABC) are effective against most common household fires (grease, paper, wood, electrical). They are suitable for your home, business, vehicle and recreational vehicle.

Know the PASS method for your Fire Extinguisher.

  • P= Pull the Pin
  • A=Aim at the base of the fire
  • S=Squeeze the handle
  • S=Sweep the nozzle back and forth to cover the width of the fire.

Make sure you are approximately 6 feet from the fire and activate the extinguisher BEFORE you move closer to the fire to extinguish it.
